A man was left embarrassed after being rushed to hospital when he suddenly turned blue from head-to-toe. While he believed something was wrong with him, the medical assessment left him shocked. Tommy Lynch, 42, woke up feeling up extremely tired and noticed his skin had turned bright blue.

Lynch's friend, who works as carer became alarmed and quickly took him to the nearest hospital. His friend was concerned he might be sick and oxygen-deprived. Doctors immediately examined Lynch and even placed him on oxygen because of the unusual color of his skin.

His case initially left medical staff concerned as they had not seen someone with such a blue complexion, who was still conscious and stable. NYP reported, quoting Lynch as saying: “The doctors said they’d never seen someone that colour before and still been alive. I looked like an Avatar."

However, all the doubts were cleared after a doctor wiped Lynch’s arm with an alcohol swab. The cotton pad then turned blue. That was the moment he realized the colour had rubbed off from his new unwashed bedsheets. Lynch had recently bought navy- blue bedsheets and slept in them for two nights.

Lynch later admitted he had no idea that new bedsheets should be washed before using them to prevent dye from transferring. He described the incident as embarrassing as people stared at him in shock. “Everyone was still staring at me as I walked out," he said.

While the case did not turn up as medical emergency, Lynch suggested everyone to wash their sheets before sleeping in them. “Always wash your sheets before you sleep in them. Unless you want to jump the queue at A&E," he added.
