An Indian-origin Sikh was arrested in Canada for allegedly sexually assaulting women in exchange for jobs. According to the press release issued by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) on Wednesday, the man who was identified as Tejinder Dhaliwal, a resident of Brampton, was arrested and charged following a sexual assault investigation involving online job advertisements that investigators alleged were used to exploit females seeking employment.

The charges stem from two separate investigations, with offences that occurred in March and December of 2025.

"Help wanted"

In both incidents, the accused posted “help wanted” advertisements on Kijiji for entry-level data entry positions. Investigators believe the accused specifically targeted female victims who were new to Canada.

As per the investigators, the accused man, after arranging interviews, the victims were picked up the victims and drove them to isolated industrial parking lots. In one occurrence, a victim was sexually assaulted. In a separate incident, a victim was offered employment opportunities that required a sexual relationship with the accused.

One incident occurred in Milton and the other in Halton Hills. Through investigation, officers identified the accused. On Tuesday, Dhaliwal was located and arrested by HRPS officers in Brampton.

He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released on the same date.

Police share image of accused 

While releasing the image, investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who may have information, or who believes they were victimised by Dhaliwal.

“Sexual assault is any touching of another person without consent where the touching is of a sexual nature, or where the sexual integrity of the victim is violated. Sexual assault can range from unwanted touching to assault involving penetration,” read the definition of sexual assault on the official website.

“There is no statute of limitations for reporting sexual assault. Regardless of how much time has passed, victims can report incidents to police for investigation,” it added.
