The Central government is working to boost domestic air connectivity, and in line with that, a significant upgrade to the Nashik and Shirdi airports would be taken up soon. The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation is preparing to convene a high-level meeting in this regard. The review and improvement of infrastructure and travel links at both airports will be discussed in the meeting.

The move is crucial as the Maharashtra government has already unveiled the detailed schedule of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik and Triambakeshwar, which will start in 2026 and conclude in 2028.

The announcement for the upgradation of air connectivity between two Maharashtra airports was announced by the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, during a press conference at the BJP’s Vasant Smruti office in Nashik at an event marking the completion of 11 years of the Narendra Modi government.

Similarly, Shirdi Airport will also undergo infrastructural improvements and better connectivity with major cities as passenger demand has seen a rise.
