The results of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections 2024 have been declared. The bitterness that was evident during the election campaign is gradually starting to fade. Leaders, who were previously engaged in intense exchanges of jibes against each other, have begun engaging in normal conversations. An example of this was witnessed on Monday. On the death anniversary of Maharashtra's first Chief Minister, Vasant Rao Chavan, Ajit Pawar, who had gone to pay his respects, had a chance meeting with his nephew Rohit Pawar. Rohit is currently a legislator from the Sharad Pawar faction.

Upon seeing his nephew, Ajit Pawar remarked, "You survived." In fact, Ajit Pawar, patting Rohit's back, added, "I didn’t hold a rally, so you managed to win. It's good that I didn’t have a rally there. If I had, you would have lost." Upon hearing this, Rohit Pawar folded his hands in gratitude. Ajit Pawar pointed to his feet, and Rohit, smiling, bent down to touch his uncle’s feet and seek his blessings. After that, both of them smiled, embraced each other, and moved forward.

Rohit Pawar had contested the Karjat Jamkhed assembly seat and emerged victorious. He is one of the 10 legislators from the Sharad Pawar faction to have won the election. When asked about Ajit Pawar’s remark, Rohit Pawar responded, "He is like a father to me. Ajit Chacha helped me a lot during the 2019 elections, and he played a significant role in my victory. However, this time, he was busy with the Baramati seat, so he didn’t hold any rallies." He added, "I congratulated him for his victory from Baramati."

The video of this meeting between the uncle and nephew has gone viral on social media.

In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a massive victory. The alliance has won 235 out of 288 seats, with BJP taking 132 seats, Shiv Sena-Shinde faction securing 57, and the NCP-Ajit Pawar faction winning 41 seats. This marks the first time in decades that a party or alliance has received such overwhelming support in Maharashtra.
