Maharashtra Local Body Election Results 2025 Live: Maharashtra is eagerly awaiting the results of its civic elections, as the vote counting began today for 288 municipal councils and nagar panchayats. The counting started at 10 AM. The results will conclude the two-phased Maharashtra Local Body elections on 246 municipal councils and 42 Nagar Panchayat seats. While the BMC elections are set for mid-January, today's results are expected to provide a key insight into the political landscape, serving as a critical test for major parties like the BJP, Shiv Sena, and MNS.
The elections were held in two phases: Phase 1 took place on December 2, 2025, covering 263 municipal councils and nagar panchayats, while Phase 2 concluded on December 20, 2025, for the remaining 23 bodies and 143 vacant seats. Voting for the president and member posts in these 23 bodies ended on Saturday at 5:30 pm.
The electoral race has been highly competitive, with the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance facing off against the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), each trying to gain an upper hand. As the counting of votes gets underway, all eyes are on the results of these crucial elections.

Maharashtra Local Polls Live Updates: Congress, NCP (SP) Hold Strongholds; Mahayuti Ahead
As vote counting continued for the Maharashtra local body elections on Sunday, the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) said they had managed to hold on to their traditional strongholds in Chandrapur and Sangli districts.
At the same time, early trends indicated an advantage for the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction).
Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar said the party secured a major victory in the Brahmapuri municipal council in Chandrapur district. The Congress won the council president’s post along with 21 of the 23 seats, while the BJP and the NCP picked up one seat each.
In Sangli district, NCP (SP) leader Jayant Patil claimed a sweeping win in the Urun-Ishwarpur municipal council. According to him, the party bagged 23 seats and also retained the position of council president.
