Maharashtra News: A 41-year-old home guard and his family were found dead on Sunday in Malwadi village in Deola tehsil of Nashik district. Police said the man, identified as Govind Shewale, is suspected to have killed his wife and two young children before dying by suicide.
The deceased were identified as Govind Shewale (41), his wife Komal (35), their nine-year-old daughter Harshali and two-year-old son Shivam. Govind was serving as a home guard and, according to police, may have been dealing with financial difficulties in recent weeks.
The Hindustan Times report cited Police as stating that the first alert came early on Sunday morning when Govind posted a WhatsApp status that read “Heartfelt tributes.” The message alarmed his relatives. When they contacted other family members in the village, they learnt that something was wrong and immediately rushed to the house.
Sarthak Nehete, police inspector at Deola police station, said that preliminary findings suggest Govind strangled his wife and children before hanging himself. When relatives arrived at the spot, all four family members were found unresponsive inside the house.
The incident caused shock in the village, prompting police teams to reach the location quickly to manage the situation. A forensic unit from the Nashik division also joined the investigation to examine the scene and collect evidence.
Officers said early observations indicate that the wife and children died due to strangulation, while Govind died by hanging. However, the exact sequence of events will be confirmed after forensic reports and detailed inquiry.
