MSRTC Updates: In a major update for the students of Maharashtra, the state government has announced the introduction of new buses for the daily trips, with a 50 per cent discount on the fare. State Minister Pratap Baburao Sarnaik, while providing details, stated that the bus rides will be available for the students of schools and colleges, adding that it will provide relief to thousands of students. He further stated that around 1,000 buses will be operated from 251 depots to drop off and pick up students on a daily basis. The state minister emphasised that the students will also receive significant discounts on these bus fares.

Sarnaik stated that the affordable rates will benefit the students, adding that the buses will operate from multiple cities in the upcoming days. The government also stated that these buses will also be utilised for historic and religious tourism for the students in the upcoming months. "This will allow all students to benefit from affordable and safe travel," Sarnaik stated.

"The Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has introduced new buses for school trips. This facility is being considered for implementation soon. This will also provide a 50 percent discount on fares," the minister asserted.

Apart from the latest development, the MSRTC operates a total of 19,624 buses for school trips, which generate revenue of Rs 92 crore for the transport department of Maharashtra. "The depot chief and station officer will also meet the principals of schools and colleges and plan trips for children to major historical and religious places," the transport department informed.

Earlier on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that several districts of Maharashtra are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. It also advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
