Maharashtra Traffic News: The Maharashtra road transport operators threatened the authorities to go on an indefinite strike from July 1, if their demands regarding e-challans, fines, cleanliness and entry restrictions in metropolitan cities remain unmet by June 30. The indefinite suspension of road transport operations, including bus and truck services will affect the movement of passengers and goods in the state.
The road transport operators came under the “Vahatukdar Bachao Kruti Samiti” and announced their strike from the next month if their demands remain unmet. Cabinet Minister Uday Samant has assured of a meeting with representatives of police and transporters on Thursday.
Speaking about the indefinite suspension of services, Baba Shinde, a Transporters Leader from Pune on Wednesday said, “If the state government fails to meet our demands by July 1, we will begin an indefinite chakka jam across Maharashtra from July 2. This decision was taken unanimously during the meeting.”
The transporters said that they are forced to pay e-challans and penalties during their duty hours, which affects their schedule and punctuality. Talking about their issues, they asked the authorities for a waiver of the existing fines and also sought the removal of the rule which mandates the need for a helper in heavy vehicles.
