Maharashtra:  In a chilling case from Maharashtra’s Thane district, a 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly pushing a woman onto the tracks in front of a moving train, killing her after a heated argument broke out between the two. The incident took place at Diva Railway Station in Maharashtra’s Thane on Friday.

What Led To The Shocking Incident?

According to the police, Rajan Shivnarayan Singh, a resident of the Diva area, followed the woman along the tracks and attempted to approach her. When she resisted, a violent altercation broke out between the two.

“Singh then allegedly grabbed her by the neck and pushed her onto the tracks in front of a moving goods train, killing her on the spot around 5 am on Friday,” a police official said.

When the chilling incident occurred, two sanitation workers were cleaning platforms 7 and 8 on the opposite side. They heard the woman shouting and rushed towards her, reportedly witnessing the crime.

Police Constable Sagar Shinde, who was on duty at Diva Railway Station, apprehended the 30-year-old man, who tried to flee along the railway tracks after committing the crime. “He was taken into custody and brought to the Thane Railway Police Station,” the police constable said.

A first information report (FIR) was registered against Singh under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including murder. “He was produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to police custody for five days,” a senior police officer of Thane Government Railway Police said.

A few days before, a similar incident took place in Maharashtra, where the police arrested a man and a woman for throwing out their newborn baby from a moving bus.
