Maharashtra weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued red and orange alerts for heavy rainfall in several districts of Maharashtra. Red alerts cover Mumbai, Nashik, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Pune, with forecasts of extremely heavy showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds as of 6:32 am on September 29. Flood-like conditions in the state have claimed at least 10 lives in the past 24 hours, while 11,800 people were safely evacuated.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been declared for Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Bhandara, Ratnagiri, Satara, and Sindhudurg, where very heavy rain, lightning, and squally winds are expected throughout the day.

The rest of Maharashtra, including Gondia, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Wardha, Yavatmal, Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Jalna, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani, Beed, Latur, Osmanabad, Solapur, Sangli, and Kolhapur, is under a yellow alert, the IMD’s second tier in its four-level warning system.

On Oct 1, the temperature will be 29/25 Degree Celsius with 0 humidity and a forecast of a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain.

On Oct 2, the temperature will be 29/25 Degree Celsius with 0 humidity and a forecast of a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain, with heavy rain or thunderstorms possible.

On Oct 3, the temperature will be 29/25 Degree Celsius with 0 humidity and the forecast indicates no warning.

On Oct 4, the temperature will be 29/25 Degree Celsius with 0 humidity and a forecast of a partly cloudy sky in the morning, becoming generally cloudy by evening or night with a possibility of rain or thundershowers accompanied by squall.

Since Saturday night, Mumbai has experienced continuous heavy rainfall. On Sunday, intense showers affected the city and its suburbs, with several areas recording over 50 mm of rain between 8 am and 1 pm, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The island city recorded an average rainfall of 47.47 mm, with the western suburbs receiving 53.61 mm and the eastern suburbs 37.92 mm between 8 am and 1 pm. Thane and Palghar districts also saw heavy rain over the past 24 hours, and officials rescued 262 people from 71 families in Bhiwandi taluka, Thane.
