Maharashtra Weather:  Temperatures in Maharashtra are dropping significantly. On Tuesday, Dhule recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature at 4 degrees Celsius, a dramatic decrease from 9.2 degrees Celsius the day before. With a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, Jalgaon came next, followed by Nashik with 9.4 degrees Celcius and Pune with 12.3 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Pune dropped from 22.5 degrees Celsius on December 4 by more than 10 degrees Celsius in just six days.

The minimum temperatures in Pune, which is renowned for having comparatively mild winters, have drastically decreased this month. For city dwellers, the drop from 22.5°C to 12.3°C in just six days is a dramatic shift. Clear sky and chilly northwesterly winds blowing throughout the area are responsible for this abrupt cooling, according to weather experts.

Although more temperature drops are unlikely, the chilly conditions are predicted to last for the next few days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Pune. “The minimum temperatures are not expected to drop further and may rise slightly. In cities like Pune and Nashik, the minimum is likely to remain below 13°C for the next two to three days,” said Dr K S Hosalikar, head of IMD-Pune.

Grape producers in Niphad, Nashik district, are worried about the cold wave as temperatures dropped to 8.9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday from 6.7 degrees Celsius the day before. Farmers are taking precautions to save their harvests as a result of the sharp decline.

"To safeguard the vineyards during these cold mornings, many farmers are using techniques like drip irrigation and lighting bonfires to maintain the required temperature," said an agricultural officer familiar with the region’s grape cultivation practices.

In an effort to lessen the effects of the ongoing cold snap, farmers are planning and civilians are covering up. While farmers continue to use cutting-edge methods to shield their crops from the harsh cold, the IMD has advised Maharashtra citizens to prepare for cooler nights as the state prepares for a chilly week.
