Mumbai Bomb Threat: Mumbai Police is on high alert following a threat call received by the city traffic police on Friday. In response to the threat, the Mumbai Police will deploy over 21,000 personnel across the city on Saturday, September 6. The Mumbai Police have made necessary security and traffic arrangements to ensure law and order during Ganesh idol processions on Anant Chaturdashi.

The threat call to the Mumbai Traffic Police helpline claimed that 34 "human bombs" carrying 400 kg of RDX had been planted in vehicles across the city, to trigger explosions “that would shake the entire city.”

The 10-day Ganeshotsav celebration, which began on August 27, will culminate on September 6 on Anant Chaturdashi. Anant Chaturdashi celebrations are marked with decorated homes, pandals, music and large-scale processions. As part of the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, a large number of devotees visited Lalbaghcha Raja Mandal in Mumbai on Friday morning. The Mumbai Traffic Police has said that thousands of people are expected to take part in Anant Chaturdashi.

Here are the latest updates on the arrangements for Anant Chaturdashi in Mumbai:

- Arrangement for Ganpati Idol Immersion: As a part of Ganesh idol immersions in Mumbai on September 6, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary has confirmed that around 6,500 community idols and over 1.5 lakh household idols are expected to be immersed on Saturday. 65 natural bodies and 205 natural ponds are equipped with barricades, CCTV surveillance, public address systems, and lifeguards to ensure public safety.

- Security Arrangements:  Tight security arrangements are in place for Ganesh Visarjan, which include deployment of 10 additional commissioner-rank officers, 40 DCPs, 3,000 inspectors and 15,000 constables, along with 14 SRPF companies, four CAPF companies, riot-control teams, QRT and BDDS units. Over 10,000 CCTV cameras have been installed across the city, and women police officers have been deployed to ensure safety and crowd management.

- Traffic Arrangements For Ganesh Visarjan:  Anil Kumbhare, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said that traffic police will be deployed across the city to ensure law and order. Additionally, traffic diversions and restrictions are in place for Ganesh Visarjan.

- AI Surveillance and Safety Measures:  AI technology will be leveraged to monitor and track crowds during Ganesh Visarjan. Additionally, two prohibitory orders have been issued: one banning the photography and sharing the immersed on social media and restricting the use of drones in no-fly zones.
