Mumbai Dahisar Toll Plaza Relocation: In a major relief for commuters in Thane’s Mira-Bhayandar area, the Dahisar toll plaza is expected to be relocated near Western Hotel, around 2 km from its current location, by November 13, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced on Saturday.
Sarnaik on Saturday inspected the toll plaza and reviewed preparations for relocation. The relocation of the Dahisar toll plaza is crucial to ease growing traffic congestion in Thane’s Mira-Bhayandar area.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sarnaik wrote, “On-site inspection of Dahisar Toll Naka... Concrete steps to put a complete stop to traffic congestion! Strict instructions have been given to relocate the toll naka by November 13, and we are always ready to serve the general public.”

Dahisar Toll Plaza Relocation To Reduce Congestion
Currently, the Dahisar toll plaza causes heavy traffic, especially during peak hours, with vehicles often taking 20-25 minutes to pass. The presence of two nearby signals adds to the ongoing problem.
The relocation of the Dahisar toll plaza is expected to reduce congestion, reduce travel time and make commuting easier and faster for motorists. Authorities, including the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC), announced plans to relocate the toll plaza to a more suitable location to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Toll Plaza Relocation Delayed Due To THIS Reason
The plan to shift the Dahisar toll plaza, originally scheduled for November 8, has been delayed as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) requested a detailed proposal with specific technical specifications from the MSRDC rather than a general plan, Times Now reported.
The MSRDC sought assistance from the NHAI to identify a suitable location for the toll plaza. However, the NHAI indicated that shifting the toll further north could breach the 60-kilometre rule that mandates a minimum distance between toll plazas. The next toll plaza on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway is located at Khaniwade in Virar.
