In a major relief to commuters in the Mira-Bhayandar region, authorities have decided to relocate the toll plaza from Dahisar to the Versova bridge. Currently, the toll plaza is situated at the entrance of the Mira-Bhayandar region, and will be relocated near the nursery close to Versova Bridge, about 2 kilometres away, before Diwali.
The Maharashtra government has approved the relocation of the Dahisar Toll Plaza, a major bottleneck on the highway, causing traffic jams and environmental pollution.
How Will Relocation Benefit Commuters
- The decision aims to ease traffic congestion, reduce fuel wastage, and provide relief to over 1.5 million residents and commuters of Mira-Bhayandar, Dahisar, and Thane.
- The relocation process is expected to be completed within 1-1.5 months, pending approval from the Union Ministry of Road Transport.
Review Meeting Took Decision On Relocations
The decision was made during a review meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, with Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announcing the development. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Dahisar MLA Prakash Surve and Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik.
Minister Sarnaik said, “Under the leadership of CM Eknath Shinde, several tolls in the state were previously abolished, and smaller vehicles were exempted from toll charges. The same proactive approach is now being extended to the Dahisar Toll issue, which falls within the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation jurisdiction.”
