Mumbai Local Train Update: Western Railway has announced a 10-hour block on the Up and Down Slow lines, as well as the Down Fast line, between Goregaon and Kandivali stations to facilitate the construction of a sixth railway line. The block will take place from midnight (00:00 hrs) on Saturday, September 7, until 10:00 AM on Sunday, September 8.

Mumbai Local Train Update: Mail And Express Train Likely To Face Delays

During this period, Mail and Express trains in both directions may face delays of approximately 10 to 20 minutes. Additionally, some suburban train services will be cancelled or will run on a shortened route.

In a press release, Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, stated that all Up Slow line trains will operate on the Up Fast line from Borivali to Goregaon. Similarly, all Down Slow line trains will run on the Down Fast line from Andheri, with these trains being managed at Platform No. 7 at Goregaon station.

Furthermore, all Down Slow line trains between Goregaon and Borivali will use the fifth line. Due to platform constraints, these trains will not stop at Ram Mandir, Malad, and Kandivali stations. Some Churchgate-Borivali Slow train services will also be short-terminated and reversed from Goregaon station.

Additionally, as the festival season approaches, Indian Railways is preparing for an increase in passenger traffic. To accommodate this, nearly 304 special trains will be operated, with Western Central Railway adding 56 festive special trains to key destinations. The Ganesh Utsav festival is set to begin on September 7 and will last until September 16, prompting additional travel demand.
