Mumbai Metro Line 3 Update: Days after commuters complained about the lack of mobile connectivity in the underground metro stations, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation has now introduced free wifi for the commuters. The provision will be available for commuters across all stations. 

This initiative by the Mumbai Metro will help commuters in booking digital tickets in minutes, eliminating the process of standing in long queues. It will also help the commuters to access Wifi calling, WhatsApp chatting and other internet-related activities.

How Can You Access The Free Wifi?

Commuters can enjoy the benefits of the free wifi by following these simple steps:

  • Step 1: Download the MetroConnect3 app from the Play Store/App Store.

  • Step 2: Log in to the app before entering the station.

  • Step 3: Go to the device’s Wifi settings and select the MetroConnect3 network.

  • Step 4: Open the mobile app, go to the profile and select Connect to Wifi.

  • Step 5: Free internet access will be provided.

Mumbai Metro Line 3: Feeder Bus Services 

To improve the last-mile connectivity, the MMRC has introduced dedicated feeder bus services for Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) in collaboration with mobility startup Cityflo. The service aims to offer convenient and sustainable travel between metro stations and major commercial as well as residential areas in Mumbai.

The feeder buses are currently running at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Worli, with services from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) expected to begin by the end of this month. To ensure a smooth travel, these buses will operate at an interval of 10 minutes, providing efficient connections to major city hubs.

The feeder bus services will have the following stoppages:

  • NSE

  • Jio Garden

  • One BKC

  • The Family Court

  • Century Mills

  • Kamala Mills

  • One Indiabulls Centre

  • Peninsula Corporate Park

  • Old Custom House

  • Lions Gate

  • S.P. Mukherjee Chowk

  • K.C. College

  • Churchgate Metro Station

Metro Tickets Can Be Booked Through WhatsApp

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has also launched a WhatsApp-based ticketing system for Mumbai Metro Line 3 to remove the hassle of standing in long queues. According to MMRC managing director Ashwini Bhide, the WhatsApp ticketing initiative is part of Mumbai Metro's effort to enhance commuter experience, reflecting the organisation's "commitment to offering seamless, efficient, and sustainable travel experiences to Mumbai's citizens”, reported news agency PTI.

The new feature comes with the backend support of Meta, will help the customers to generate up to six QR tickets in one go. The initiative will also help in eliminating paper tickets and make a transition towards a digital India. The WhatsApp ticketing service on Mumbai Line 3 is provided by PeLocal Fintech Private Limited, and it does not require a separate application.
