Mumbai News: A two-year-old girl died of serious head injuries after a college student accidentally fell on her in Mumbai's Juhu area. The student was playfully chatting with his friend near the toddler, lost balance and fell on her, the police said. Harshad Gaurav, 20, was booked for causing death by negligence.

Sequence Of Events

The incident occurred on January 2 when the girl, Vidhi Agrahari, was playing near a shop owned by her family. At the same time, Gaurav and his friend Shahnawaz Ansari were also chatting at that spot, the police said.

The girl’s mother asked both of them not to be so close to the girl and shift to some other place, however, they ignored her advice.

“The student and his friend Ansari were having a light-hearted chat and pushing each other out of fun when the former lost balance and fell on the toddler," the police said.

Girl Succumbs To Head Injuries

The toddler suffered head injuries and was rushed to Cooper Hospital where she died two days later, the police said.

Her father filed a complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR against the student under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 106 (causing death by negligence).
