In a major update for the residents of Mumbai, a tunnel connecting Dadar and Prabhadevi to Mumbai Coastal Road is likely to be open to the public by May this year, as per a News18 report.
The tunnel, which is 550 metres long and 11 metres wide, will significantly alleviate the area's traffic congestion. The tunnel will be a key point connecting the western suburbs to southern Mumbai and also central Mumbai. As per the report, the commuters coming from the Sewri-Worli elevated corridor would also be able to reach both western suburbs and the southern parts of Mumbai using the tunnel.
Tunnel connects key locations
Besides, it is the only underpass on the Mumbai Coastal Road. The tunnel will pass under the Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road and link J K Kapur Chowk at the Bindoo Madhav Thackeray Chowk vehicular interchange near Worli Sea Face.

How will is benefit Mumbai?
The tunnel will ease congestion at Worli as traffic coming from Dada and Prabhadevi will be redirected through this tunnel. Once inside the tunnel, the vehicles could go either towards Bandra or continue on to Marine Drive/Nariman Point.
Mumbai Metro Line 9 status
In another big development, Mumbai Metro's Line 9 connecting Dahisar East to Mira Bhayandar is also on the verge of completion.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Thursday announced that Mumbai's Metro Line 9 project is soon likely to be ready for public use. It stated that the energisation of the Overhead Equipment (OHE) between Dahisar East and Kashigaon is expected to be completed ahead of May 10.
It is worth mentioning here that Line 9 is divided into two phases. Phase 1 will run between Daisar East to Kashigaon and Phase 2 will extend the metro services to the Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium.
