Mumbai Rains: Mumbai on Wednesday continued to witness heavy rain leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls. The city is further likely to receive rain over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an alert for heavy rain in Mumbai and its suburbs for two days, July 24 and July 25.

The weather prediction for Mumbai over the next week indicates rain till July 29. Mumbai is likely to receive moderate rain and witness cloudy sky on July 25, July 26 and July 27. The maximum temperature is likely to hover between 27-28 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature will remain at 24 degrees Celsius.

On July 28 and July 29, Mumbai will continue to receive rain while the maximum temperature is expected to range between 28 and 29 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature will remain 23 degrees Celsius on these days.

Mumbai Police Issues Advisory: Dos and Don'ts

The Mumbai Police and the BMC issued advisories to the citizens of Mumbai amid heavy rainfall warning.

- The Mumbai Police advisory asked citizens to avoid coastal areas.
- The police advised the residents to leave their homes only if necessary and take precautions.
- An emergency number, 100, was also issued to help the citizens.
- The BMC urged the residents to avoid going out unless necessary.

High Tide Warning In Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had earlier forecast heavy to very heavy rains in isolated parts of the city and suburbs, along with occasional wind speed of 50 to 60 km per hour. The BMC also predicted high tides of 4.72 metres at 2:11 PM and another high tide on Wednesday of 4.20 metres at 2:18 AM. The average rainfall recorded from July 23 to July 24 has been 26.28 mm.

Mumbai Local Trains Affected

The Central Railway locals in Mumbai was delayed by 15 minutes earlier today due to a technical issue between the Matunga and Sion stations. According to the Central Railway, the local train service in the up direction was disrupted for nearly 35 minutes between 7:45 AM and 8:20 AM on the fast line due to the overhead wires. Few trains were diverted on the slow line which resulted in a 15 mins delay in the time table of all the local trains.

IMD Issues Alert For Maharashtra

The state of Maharashtra is under yellow, orange, and red alerts for rainfall as the IMD predicts downpour in various parts. The Met department issued a yellow alert for various cities, including Mumbai city, Thane, Nashik, Dhule, Palghar, Nandurbar, Washim, Buldhana, Yavatmal. These cities will witness thunderstorms and lightning.

An orange alert has been issued for Pune, Raigad and Kolhapur as the IMD forecast very heavy rain in these cities. Meanwhile, a red alert has been sounded for Ratnagiri and Satara as these are expected to receive extremely heavy rain.
