Mumbai Rain Update: The financial capital of India has been battered by relentless monsoon rains, leading to widespread disruption across the city, with Mumbai local train services disrupted and BEST buses diverted. In response, officials have announced a holiday for all schools and colleges within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) jurisdiction.
Mumbai Rain Update
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day, with the likelihood of thunderstorms in the evening. According to civic officials, Mumbai has already recorded over 300 mm of rainfall between 1 am and 7 am, inundating several parts of the city. Additionally, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for the districts of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri, forecasting heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday. Meteorologists, however, warn that conditions could change rapidly in the coming hours.

Mumbai Local trains Affected
The heavy downpours have severely impacted the Central Railway's suburban services, with waterlogging reported at key stations such as Sion and the stretch between Bhandup and Nahur. The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) stated that train operations were halted for nearly an hour due to the water levels on the tracks, but services have now partially resumed, albeit with lingering disruptions.

BMC Issues Alert
The BMC, the local governing body, has urged Mumbaikars to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary movement, They wrote,"step out of the house only if it is necessary." They have also cautioned citizens against believing any rumours, assuring that the entire civic machinery is actively working to address the situation on the ground.

Maharashtra Weather Forecast
The IMD has forecasted further heavy rains in Maharashtra over the next three to four days, with the Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions expected to bear the brunt of heavy downpours.
