Mumbai Rains: The continuous rainfall in Mumbai on Monday has led to several issues, including waterlogging in key areas, delays in flight and train operations, and security forces deployment in certain regions to rescue the stranded residents. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday stated that the city, along with other Maharashtra districts, is likely to witness heavy rainfall for the next two days. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

Mumbai Rains: These are the latest updates

- Several areas of the city, including Andheri Subway, Lokhandwala Complex, Vakola Bridge, Hyatt Junction, and Khar Subway, witnessed waterlogging, leading to slow vehicular movement. The traffic police has advised the commuters to use alternative routes to avoid any inconveniences.

- The officials stated that the local trains on several routes were running late by around 10 minutes as water accumulated on tracks in the low-lying areas; however, they clarified that no train was cancelled due to the rain.

- Airlines such as Akasa Air and IndiGo advised the travellers to follow the guidelines and keep additional time in hand to avoid any inconveniences, as some of the routes leading to the Mumbai airport witnessed traffic congestion.

- Amid continuous rainfall, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared a holiday for all the education institutes in the city operating in the second shift.

- Apart from this, more than 200 people got stranded in several villages in Nanded district due to a sudden surge in water levels. The district administration stated that the Indian Army has been deployed in these regions to rescue those people, adding that several techniques are being used to rescue the stranded individuals.

- The officials stated that a school bus carrying six children and two staffers got stuck on a waterlogged road after continuous rainfall. However, the trapped students were rescued by the state police.
