The News 18 report cited officials as stating, the flyover will start near Kalpana Cinema on LBS Road and end at Sarvodaya Hospital in Ghatkopar. Once completed, it will provide significant relief on the busy Ghatkopar-Andheri route, where heavy traffic jams have become a daily challenge for motorists.

All required permissions for the project have been granted and the civic body has initiated a detailed study through the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI). The study focuses on the bridge’s design, its likely impact on local traffic and the overall benefits to road users. After the report is submitted, the BMC will begin the tendering process for construction.

Project Delayed Earlier Over Naval Land Objection
The construction, however, faced initial hurdles due to the presence of naval land along the proposed route. The Indian Navy had raised concerns, as the bridge alignment passed within 10 to 12 metres of its land. For almost two years, the BMC and Navy exchanged correspondence to resolve the issue. The project finally gained momentum after the Navy granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
To ensure security near the naval premises, the BMC plans to install a protective barrier over six metres high. This will prevent visibility into the Navy site and maintain security standards.
