Mumbai: Ride-hailing platform Uber has launched metro ticketing services in Mumbai for the first time, allowing commuters on Metro Line 1 (Versova–Andheri–Ghatkopar) to book tickets directly through the app.

The initiative, announced on Wednesday, is part of Uber’s partnership with Mumbai Metro One and the ONDC Network. Commuters can now discover, purchase and use metro tickets within the Uber app, eliminating the need to stand in long queues at stations.

The feature follows similar launches in Delhi and Chennai earlier this year, as Uber expands its efforts to integrate multiple modes of transport and simplify daily travel for urban commuters across India.

In Chennai, Uber has already enabled commuters to book QR-based metro tickets directly through the app under its partnership with the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and the ONDC network. Introduced on August 7, 2025, the feature allows passengers to plan their journeys, access real-time metro updates, and make seamless UPI-based payments.

To encourage adoption, Uber announced 50 per cent discounts on Chennai Metro tickets throughout August, along with fare reductions of up to Rs 20 for riders using Uber Auto or Uber Moto to or from metro stations.

Uber’s Senior Director – Mobility and Platforms, Manikandan Thangarathnam, said the initiative aims to make multimodal commuting simpler and position Uber as a one-stop urban transport solution. CMRL Managing Director M.A. Siddique added that the partnership aligns with Chennai’s vision of offering tech-driven, convenient, and connected public transport for its residents.
