Mumbai Weather Update:  The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in several parts of the city on July 2. According to the forecast, heavy rain is expected to continue throughout the day, accompanied by cloudy skies. Light showers are expected throughout the week. The weather department advised the residents to stay cautious, especially in low-lying areas and flood-prone areas.

With the early onset of monsoon in Mumbai on May 26, the city is expected to receive heavy rainfall throughout the week. A yellow alert is issued for July 2. Here’s a detailed forecast for the coming days.

July 2 (Wednesday): A yellow alert for heavy rainfall is issued by IMD, with generally cloudy skies throughout the day. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 30 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 26 degrees Celsius.

July 3 (Thursday):  Though no warning has been issued yet, moderate rain with generally cloudy skies is expected in the city on July 3. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 26 degrees Celsius.

July 4 (Friday):  A generally cloudy sky with moderate rain is expected on July 4. No warning is in effect for the day. The weather is likely to be pleasant with maximum temperatures holding steady at 30 degrees Celsius.

July 5 (Saturday):  A moderate shower is expected to continue in Mumbai throughout the day, with a slight increase in temperature from July 4. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 25 degrees Celsius.

July 6 (Sunday): The IMD predicts rain on July 6, with the maximum temperature likely to be around 31 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will hover around 25 degrees Celsius.

According to the rainfall data from two key observatories, IMD’s Colaba station recorded 592 mm of rain, surpassing the monthly average of 542.3 mm. In contrast to Colaba, Santacruz Station recorded 512.7 mm of rainfall in June, slightly below its average of 537.1 mm. The southwest monsoon advanced over the city earlier on May 26.
