Mumbai weather alert: Residents of Mumbai have been warned against uncomfortable weather conditions as the city braces for torrential rain on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in the city for heavy rain and has urged citizens to exercise caution as they may face traffic issues and waterlogging in low-lying areas. The sky above the city is expected to be generally cloudy. 

Besides Mumbai, neighbouring districts like Palghar and Thane have also been placed on yellow alert for heavy rainfall in the coming days. The yellow alert will remain in place today, on Thursday and again on the Weekend, from Saturday to Sunday. Two other neighbouring districts of Mumbai have been put under an orange alert fr heavy to very heavy rainfall. Raigarh and Ratnagiri are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday and Sunday.

Mumbai Rain Forecast

The weather department has not issued any weather warnings for Friday. The sky is expected to remain cloudy with light to moderate rain anticipated. While the city is expected to experience heavy rainfall with clouds dominating the skies on Saturday. A rain alert has been issued for July 6 as heavy rain is likely to prevail on Sunday. No warning has been given for the rain on Monday, anticipating that the rain will be moderate. Similar weather conditions are likely to remain in place on Tuesday, next week.

As per the rain data, released by IMD, between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, Colaba recorded 7 mm of rainfall, while the Santacruz observatory registered 4 mm. As rain activity intensified on Wednesday, the IMD issued at least three nowcast warnings, highlighting the possibility of intense rainfall spells across Mumbai.
