Navi Mumbai International Airport: With the Navi Mumbai International Airport set to begin operations on December 25, the Targhar railway station on the Uran-Belapur line has been operationalised, ensuring seamless connectivity for travellers. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hailed the railway station as 'a special gift for Mumbaikars'.

“Thank you, Hon. PM, Narendra Modi Ji, and Hon. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ji, for initiating additional local train services: Nerul-Uran-Nerul (4 trips) and Belapur-Uran-Belapur (6 trips), in response to my request. Grateful for the approval of stoppages at Targhar and Gavhan,” CM Fadnavis wrote.

Navi Mumbai Airport To Get New Railway Station: Check Details

According to an official notice from the Railway Ministry, 10 new suburban trains will begin operations on the Port Line.

- Nerul-Uran-Nerul Route: Four trains will operate between Nerul and Uran.

- Belapur-Uran-Belapur Route: Six trains will run between Belapur and Uran.

- Stoppages: All trains will halt at Targhar and Gavhan stations.

How Will It Benefit Commuters?

Targahar station, located about 1.5 kilometres from the Navi Mumbai International Airport, will serve as a key access point not only for passengers but also for airport staff. The station will feature parking facilities, retail spaces, and direct connections via walkways and shuttle services to the airport.

The newly constructed Targhar station, spread over 2 lakh square feet, will serve as a future-ready transit hub to ensure smooth connectivity to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The station will act as a major interchange between the Harbour Line, the upcoming Coastal Metro, and the proposed airport skytrain, ensuring seamless connectivity for air travellers.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 112 crore by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), the Targhar railway station features three island platforms and two end platforms, each measuring 270 metres in length and 12 metres in width. The station will be equipped with subways for cross-platform access, commuter parking at all four corners, and a dedicated drop-off zone for buses, cars, and autorickshaws.
