CIDCO, the government authority involved in city planning, said that the change in the running schedule of the metro trains on Line 1 has been implemented to ensure effective preventive maintenance of rolling stock without hurting the demands of commuters.
The officials further added that on all other days, except Sundays and public holidays, the services will run as per the regular schedule.
Thane-Belapur Road section closed
In another development, a section of Thane-Belapur Road in Navi Mumbai has been closed till May 14. The section was closed on May 7 at 9:00 am and will open at midnight on May 14.
Navi Mumbai Traffic Department said that the section closure was imposed due to upcoming road concreting work near IKEA. The work is being carried out by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).
To minimise disruption in Navi Mumbai, the traffic department has proposed alternative routes for motorists.
Light vehicles: Divert via the Fire Brigade Signal in Mahape, then continue through Sector 26 APMC and Palm Beach Road to reach their destinations.
Heavy vehicles: Commuters can either turn left at the Fire Brigade Signal and proceed through the Turbhe MIDC area or turn left from under the Savita Chemical Bridge and follow the same MIDC route.
