Navi Mumbai News: A man in Navi Mumbai’s Vashi area was allegedly assaulted by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) members after they accused him of behaving inappropriately with a Marathi woman at work. The man has been identified as Ramesh Shukla.

As per initial information, members of the MNS Sahkar Sena reportedly called Shukla to their local office after receiving a complaint from a female colleague. The group, led by local leader Balasaheb Shinde, claimed that Shukla had used offensive language and acted improperly towards the woman during a dispute related to money.

During the confrontation, the woman was also brought to the office. The India TV report cited sources as stating that, the workers made her slap Shukla in front of the group. The workers then demanded that he apologise and reportedly forced him to sign a written apology. A video circulating online shows MNS workers surrounding Shukla and asking him to admit his mistake.

Shinde stated that the party would not accept any disrespectful behaviour towards women, especially Marathi women, in Maharashtra. He said that anyone involved in such misconduct would be dealt with in a similar manner.

After the incident, the MNS Sahkar Sena issued a warning, saying those living and working in Maharashtra must respect local culture and women. The group said that misbehaviour in the name of work or financial matters would not be tolerated.

The report cited Police sources as stating that, they are checking the details of the incident and are trying to confirm whether either party has filed a formal complaint.
