The Navi Mumbai Traffic police on Friday released an advisory for Sunday (March 30), ahead of a grand Shobha Yatra for Gudi Pawa. The advisory stated that traffic on several routes will be affected for a few hours as hundreds of devotees are expected to participate in the holy procession. It further urged the residents to stay updated and follow the guidelines to avoid any inconvenience.
The traffic advisory was released as the Shobha Yatra is expected to be attended by 2,500 to 3,000 people along with their vehicles. The procession is led by the Hindu New Year Welcome Procession Committee, Vashi, and will pass through several key areas of the region. The procession will also be attended by people along with 150 to 200 motorcycles, dhol Pathak, senior citizens, children, seven horses, trailers displaying various themes, and two tractors.
The traffic police stated that vehicular movement from Koparkhairane to Vashi Railway Station will be restricted between 7 am and 12 pm to ensure that there is a smooth traffic management. The advisory stated that the traffic restriction will take place for 5 hours as the procession is scheduled to take place in these hours. The advisory suggested that the affected route stretches from Blue Diamond Chowk to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk.
To avoid inconvenience, the traffic police advised the motorists to take the Blue Diamond Chowk to Kopri Signal to Palm Beach Road route to reach their destination. The advisory stated that opting for this route for the above-mentioned hours will save time, and they will reach their destination without any inconvenience.
However, the advisory emphasised that the restrictions are not applied to emergency vehicles, including police cars, ambulances, and fire brigades. They also pointed out that the traffic advisory is issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, Sections 115 and 116(1)(a)(b). They further urged the commuters to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly.
