Pune News: A 25-year-old automobile mechanic allegedly killed his girlfriend inside a lodge in Pune’s Pimpri Chinchwad area on Saturday and later surrendered to the police. The accused, identified as Dilawar Singh, a resident of Pisoli in Pune, reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that he acted out of anger after discovering photos of his partner with another man on her phone.

Police said the victim, 26-year-old Mary Mallesh Telugu, was a resident of Dehu Road and worked as a domestic helper. According to officials, Singh and Mary had checked into a lodge in the Kalakhadak area of Wakad earlier in the day. While at the lodge, Singh allegedly checked her phone and found some pictures that led to an argument between the two. In a fit of rage, he attacked her with a knife and a wrench, resulting in her death.

Following the incident, Singh went to the Kondhwa police station in the evening and confessed to the murder. The officers there immediately informed the Wakad police, under whose jurisdiction the crime took place. A police team rushed to the lodge and found Mary’s body in one of the rooms.

Singh was taken into custody and later handed over to Wakad police for further investigation. A case of murder has been registered against him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

Officials said Singh was formally arrested and will be produced before a court on Sunday, where the police plan to seek his custody for interrogation. The investigation is underway to verify his claims and determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the murder.

Police said initial findings suggest the killing was driven by suspicion and anger over infidelity.
