Mumbai- Pune Train: Train services between Mumbai and Pune will face major disruptions this weekend as the Central Railway has announced a traffic and power block from October 11 to 14 for Karjat Yard remodelling work. During this period, several trains have been cancelled, diverted, short-terminated, or short-originated. The affected trains include the Pragati Express, Deccan Queen, Deccan Express, Sinhagad Express, Indrayani Express, CSMT–Solapur Vande Bharat Express, Nanded–Panvel Express and Intercity Express.
According to Hemant Kumar Behera, Divisional Commercial Manager and PRO of the Pune Division, passengers were informed about the cancellations through messages. “Most of these trains will resume service soon. The Railways has a refund policy for such situations, ensuring passengers are compensated,” he said.
P D Patil, PRO of the Central Railway, stated that the remodelling work aims to reduce congestion at Karjat station and improve train movement in the long term.
Officials explained that the project includes dismantling old track crossings, inserting new ones and carrying out connection works. It also involves extending R&D lines and adding a new track between the UP Yard and the Karjat–Panvel section, along with a fourth line between Karjat and Palasdhari.
