Pune Metro Update: On the auspicious day of Anant Chaturdashi, the Pune Metro service will be non-stop operational for 41 hours to facilitate the commuters travelling for the Ganpati visarjan (Ganesh idol immersion).

According to the Pune Metro, the services will start at 6:00 am on Saturday (September 6) and will continue till 11:00 PM on Sunday (September 7).

The authorities have urged the citizens to use the services on the festive day. The extended hours of service are aimed at reducing the traffic congestion across key routes on the day of Ganpati immersion, especially when the devotees will hit the streets in massive numbers.

In another update regarding the Pune Metro, the Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the construction of two new metro stations on the Swargate-Katraj Line. The 5.1 km line will get Balajinagar and Bibwewadi as two new stations.

Today, we are conducting an area domination, and we are also checking the immersion routes to ensure that any last-minute hitches are taken care of. There are 8000 police personnel, home guards, and other specialised units which have been deployed for this bandobast. We are ensuring everything passes off peacefully. Most importantly, the Ganesh Mandals are completely cooperating with us and they are themselves given a time schedule which they shall be following at each of the chowks."
