Pune Rain: Heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra on Sunday disrupted transport services to Pune, affecting both road and rail travel. Officials confirmed that while flights at Pune Airport were operating normally, several buses and trains faced delays and diversions.
According to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), services from Barshi, Jamkhed and Dharashiv were the worst hit. Arun Siya, divisional controller of MSRTC in Pune, said, “Along the way there are many bridges, big and small, which are inundated. This is resulting in the buses taking different diversions while coming to Pune, resulting in delays.”
The Times Of India report cited Officials as stating that, some buses were cancelled and the decision on Monday’s operations would depend on the rainfall. “We are continuously monitoring the situation and drivers have been asked to exercise caution. Passenger traffic to almost all destinations has dropped drastically as people don’t want to indulge in non-essential travelling. The operations should come back to normal provided the water levels on the bridges come down. At present, we cannot predict considering the continuous rains,” an MSRTC officer said.
