Pune Suicide: A 31-year-old woman, along with her minor son, jumped to death from the terrace of a multi-storey building in Pune. The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 6.30 PM and the police named the deceased woman as Mayuri Shashikant Deshmukh.
The police also found a suicide letter from the woman's home, in which she blamed her sister-in-law of harassing and explained why she took the drastic step with her six-year-old kid.
Responding on the incident, a senior officer of the Ambegaon Police Station said, “The incident took place at Kalpak Housing Society at around 6.30 pm."
“We rushed to the spot and found that a woman, along with her kid, had jumped off their society’s terrace and died," he said.
“At her home, we found a suicide note kept in a notebook where the deceased alleged she was taking the extreme step as she was being harassed by her sister-in-law," the official said.
He said that the case is still being investigated.
In a separate incident, three members of a family were found hanging inside their apartment in Rajdanga, Kasba, on Tuesday evening. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide due to financial pressure. The deceased include 70-year-old Sarajit Bhattacharya, his wife Gargi (68) and their 38-year-old son Ayushman.
The police were alerted after neighbours reported that the family had not responded to calls or knocks at their door. Officers from Kasba police station broke into the second-floor flat and discovered the three hanging inside.
