Pune News: An IT engineer in Pune died by suicide after abruptly exiting a meeting and jumping from the seventh floor of his office. 23-year-old Piyush Ashok Kawade was employed with Atlas Copco in Hinjewadi Phase One for over 1.5 years. Citing chest pain, Piyush excused himself during the meeting on Monday morning and moved to the terrace to take the extreme step. The incident occurred around 10:30 am, leaving his colleagues disturbed.
“He left the meeting midway, claiming chest discomfort, and minutes later jumped off the seventh floor," a senior police official said, as quoted by a News18 report.
A handwritten suicide note was recovered from the scene. In the note, Piyush did not mention work related pressure or stress, as per the report. “I have failed everywhere in life. Forgive me," Piyush stated in the note.
The note also had an emotional message for his father. Piyush said that he felt he did not deserve to be his son and apologised for his actions.
“We are speaking to colleagues and reviewing CCTV footage. While the note did not mention workplace issues, we are exploring all possible angles to understand what may have triggered this act," said a senior police inspector Balaji Pandre.
