Pune Traffic Advisory: Pune traffic police have announced special traffic arrangements for Tuesday, August 12, in view of the large gatherings expected at the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple for Angarki Chaturthi. The arrangements aim to ensure smooth movement in the busy central parts of the city.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road will remain closed to vehicles heading towards Swargate. Motorists are advised to take Bajirao Road or other designated routes instead.

-Traffic restrictions will also be in place between Appa Balwant Chowk and Budhwar Chowk. Vehicles on this stretch will be diverted via Abhinav Chowk (Puram Chowk), Tilak Road, Alka Talkies Chowk and Fergusson College Road.

-For those travelling from Abhinav Chowk towards Shivajinagar, the suggested route is via SG Barve Chowk (Modern Café), Junglee Maharaj Road, Jhansi Rani Chowk, Khandojibaba Chowk, Tilak Chowk, and Tilak Road.
The changes come as thousands of devotees are expected to visit the temple to mark Angarki Chaturthi — a significant day for Lord Ganesha’s devotees, many of whom fast and offer prayers for blessings and the removal of obstacles.

Police have urged citizens to cooperate with the diversions and plan their journeys to avoid delays. “We request commuters to follow the traffic instructions to ensure everyone’s safety during the festival,” said DCP Jadhav.
With heavy footfall and festive crowds likely to cause congestion, the traffic branch has appealed to the public to use alternative roads and allow extra time for travel in and around the city centre.
