Pune Traffic Advisory: Pune Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions and road closures in preparation for the Shiv Jayanti celebrations, marking the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Wednesday. These measures aim to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow during the festivities.
To facilitate the processions commemorating Shiv Jayanti, key roads and intersections in central Pune will be temporarily closed. Public transportation will also be adjusted to minimise disruptions. Buses operated by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will take alternative routes, ensuring that the city's public transport system remains functional.
Pune Traffic Advisory: Emergency Vehicle Exempted
Emergency service vehicles will be exempt from the traffic diversions, as stated by Amol Zende, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) for Pune City.
The traffic changes will begin at 6 AM on Wednesday and will remain in effect until the end of the processions on key routes including Shivaji Road, Bajirao Road, Laxmi Road and Nehru Road.

Pune Traffic Diversion: Affected Routes
From 7 AM onwards, traffic will be redirected along Nehru Road, Laxmi Road, Shivaji Road, and Bajirao Road. Specifically, traffic moving from Jijamata Chowk to Swargate via Shivaji Road will be diverted at SG Barwe Chowk, utilising Jangali Maharaj Road, Khandoji Baba Chowk and Tilak Road following the Jai Bharat, Jai Shivaji padyatra.
Additionally, vehicles from Ganesh Road heading to Phadke Huad and Jijamata Chowk will be rerouted via Daruwala Bridge. Once the processions reach Laxmi Road, traffic will be redirected towards Samarth Division and Sant Kabir Chowk.
Traffic coming from Puram Chowk to Shivajinagar via Bajirao Road will be diverted at Puram Chowk to Tilak Road, Alka Talkies Chowk and Fergusson College Road.
Furthermore, as the processions commence, traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk towards Budhwar Chowk and Bajirao Road to Futka Buruj will be redirected through Kelkar Road.
Shivjayanti 2025: Pune Parking Facilities
To accommodate attendees, parking facilities will be available at several locations, including Sangamwadi Parking, FC Ground, Nadipatra Parking, and Agri College Ground.
Jai Shivaji – Jai Bharat Padyatra Route
In addition to the Shiv Jayanti celebrations, the 'Jai Shivaji – Jai Bharat' padyatra will take place from 7 AM to 2 PM. This procession will pass through various locations, including COEP Ground, SG Barwe Chowk and Modern Chowk. Consequently, traffic will be altered along FC and JM Road during this time.
