Pune Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that Pune is likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till June 17. The weather department stated that the rainfall will reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. It further stated that along with heavy rainfall, the city is also likely to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 60 kmph. The weather department stated that apart from reducing the temperature, the rainfall will also lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several areas, including Aundh, Bopodi, Pashan, Soos, Mahalunge, Kothrud, and Bavdhan, witnessed heavy rainfall on Thursday. It further stated that these regions are expected to witness heavy rainfall for the next few days. The IMD stated that the residents of several regions, such as Kothrud and Bavdhan, had to face inconveniences due to waterlogging, leading to traffic congestion.

The weather department stated that the temperature is likely to increase after June 17; however, the city is again expected to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days. The IMD on Thursday had stated that apart from Pune, several other cities of Maharashtra, including Mumbai and Nagpur, are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days.

Earlier on Thursday, the IMD stated that the northern states are likely to witness severe heat for a few more days. It informed that the maximum temperature in several states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana, is likely to be calculated around 45 degrees Celsius. However, some of the states are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall on Friday, providing major relief from the scorching heat.
