As many as four people of a family, including two minors, were killed after a fire broke out in Maharashtra's Purnanagar area of Pimpri-Chinchwad of Pune district on Wednesday. The incident that claimed four lives gutted an electric hardware shop on the ground floor of a residential building at 5 AM today.

Speaking about the incident, a fire official from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation said, "So far, bodies of four people, who were sleeping on the mezzanine of the hardware shop located on the building's ground floor, have been recovered."

He also informed that the fire has been extinguished and the cooling process is on, citing short-circuit as a possible reason behind the incident.

The deceased have been identified as Chimnaram Chowdhary (48), Namrata Chimnaram Chowdhary (40), Bhavesh Chowdhary (15) and Sachin Choudhary (13).

In another separate incident that took place in a mall in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam following an electrical short circuit, the owners of the mall suffered a loss of Rs 2 crore, as all goods  in the shopping mall were burnt to ashes.
