Pune Traffic: In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion plaguing Pune, the city's Traffic Police have imposed a temporary ban on heavy vehicles at 30 key locations throughout the city. This measure, which will be in place from 9 am to 10 pm until August 12, is a direct response to the deteriorating road conditions caused by the ongoing heavy rains.
The decision was announced on Sunday by DCP Traffic Rohidas Pawar, who cited the continuous rainfall and the subsequent formation of numerous potholes as the primary factors behind the reduced capacity of the city's roads. This, in turn, has led to a increase in traffic congestion, prompting the authorities to take decisive action.
The temporary ban will be applicable to trucks, dumpers, concrete mixers and other heavy vehicles, with the exception of those involved in emergency services.
