Pune Weather News: Pune and its surrounding areas are experiencing heavy rain today, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting extremely heavy rainfall in the region. Additionally, the IMD has predicted that the ghat areas of Pune are likely to experience extremely heavy showers, while the plains will see moderate rainfall.

Pune Weather: Residents Near Khandakwasla Dam Relocated

In response to the impending weather conditions in the city and the rising water levels in the Mutha River, authorities have decided to relocate locals residing near the Khandakwasla dam. This precautionary move comes as dam authorities prepare to release 35,000 cusecs of water due to the increase in the river’s water levels.

Pune Rain Today: Army Deployed in Ekta Nagar Area

In a further response to the situation, the District Magistrate has requested the deployment of an Army column in the Ekta Nagar area. The column, comprising around 100 personnel, including engineers and medical staff, is equipped with necessary vehicles and supplies to provide assistance during the emergency. The heavy rainfall has also led to a rise in the water levels of the Mutha and Pawana rivers.

 

Pune News: Morya Gosavi Ganpati Temple Flooded

The Morya Gosavi Ganpati temple in Pimpri-Chinchwad flooded today as the water level in the Pawana River rose due to incessant rainfall. Additionally, the basement parking of the Dwarka building in Ekta Nagar has experienced flooding. Army personnel and the Pune Fire Brigade are currently on the scene, working to mitigate the situation.

Pune News: National Highway 753 Closed Till August 5

The closure of National Highway 753, leading to the Tamhini Ghat, has been announced until August 5 due to cracks developing on the road caused by the heavy downpour.

Pune Rain: Raj Thackeray Visited Elta Nagar Flooded Area

In a related development, MNS chief Raj Thackeray visited the flood-affected area of Ekta Nagar. Following his meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Thackeray announced that the state government has sanctioned Rs10 lakh each to the next of kin of the two victims who lost their lives during the recent floods.

Yellow Alert Issued For Several Maharashtra Districts

The IMD has also issued yellow alerts for several districts across Maharashtra, including Palghar, Thane, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal. These alerts warn of possible thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph in some areas.
