Pune Weather Today: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pune, Palghar and Satara districts, warning of extreme weather conditions on August 4. Additionally, an orange alert has been declared for Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Nashik, indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall in these areas.
This weather warning coincides with heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the Khadakwasla, Pavana, Mulshi and Chasakman dams in Pune, leading to the dams reaching full capacity. Consequently, a large-scale water discharge is required.
The Pune "The recent lull in rainfall has ended as heavy rains have returned today. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a 'red alert' has been issued for Pune, Palghar, and Satara for August 4 due to anticipated extreme weather conditions. Additionally, an 'orange alert' has been declared for Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Nashik, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain," said a spokesperson for the weather agency.
Mumbai Weather
Mumbai and surrounding areas saw cloudy skies and moderate to heavy rain on Sunday morning. The IMD predicts these conditions will continue, with heavy showers later. Following yesterday’s heavy rains, more are expected today in the city and MMR, prompting an upgrade from a yellow to an orange alert.
Heavy Rain To Hit Jharkhand
The intense weather pattern is not limited to the western regions of the country. The IMD has also issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in seven districts of Jharkhand. The low-pressure system affecting several regions is expected to bring heavy downpours to Bihar, Jharkhand, South Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and East Madhya Pradesh.
MP, Gujarat, Goa Weather Forecast
West Madhya Pradesh should brace for extremely heavy rain on August 3 and 4, while Gujarat, Konkan and Goa will face similar conditions. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is anticipated in East Madhya Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region and Konkan and Goa, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in several other parts of the country.
