In a road accident in Maharashtra’s Latur district, a speeding truck rammed into a bus, leading to the death of a vegetable seller on the roadside. The accident, which took place in the early hours of March 20, was captured on the security camera installed in a nearby shop.
The accident took place when a bus was taking a turn at an intersection. The truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into the bus causing the bus to collide with the traffic signal and crushing the vegetable seller, sitting beneath the signal, to death. The truck driver fled the scene as soon as the accident took place.
Emergency service personnel and local authorities reached the location of the accident swiftly after receiving information. The police are currently investigating the matter and analysing the CCTV recording thoroughly.
A similar case of road accident occurred in Gujarat’s Vadodara when a 20-year-old rammed his car into five people. The incident killed a woman while severely injuring others. In this case, CCTV footage of the accident is not available, but CCTV recording of moments before the accident has emerged. Recording shows accused Rakshit Chaurasiya at a friend’s residence where his other friend was also present. Notably, during the crash, the accused Rakshit’s friend was also there. The vehicle used in the fatal accident has also been recorded.
In the CCTV visuals accused Rakshit can be seen arriving at his friend Suresh Bharwad’s house on a scooter with him. After a while, his other friend Pranshu Chauhan arrived at the house in his car. As per reports, after about 45 minutes, Pranshu and Rakshit left together. Initially, Pranshu was driving the car, however, they switched seats after Rakshit’s request.

According to the latest data made available by NCRB, in the year 2022, a total of 1.71 lakh lives were lost due to road accidents. However, the same data set provided by the Road and Transport Ministry recorded 1.68 lakh deaths because of road accidents.
