Hathras Shocker:  A 50-year-old geography professor has been arrested by police in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on charges of sexually assaulting his students. The professor reportedly recorded the abuse and used the 59 videos to force the students to remain silent and perform more sexual favours.

Rajnish Kumar, the Chief Proctor of the Seth Phool Chand Bagla PG College in Hathras, has been on the run since the charges surfaced earlier this week, accompanied by explicit videos of students being sexually abused that were shared with authorities on a Pen Drive.

According to police sources, who spoke to NDTV, Kumar stated he was unaware of how many women he had abused.

He said he just started filming his attacks a few years ago, after a web camera accidentally captured a student being molested, implying that many more women may have been raped.

According to sources, he allegedly received bribes from students and their parents in exchange of higher exam scores and employment placement, which he also used to demand sexual favours.

Kumar revealed to the police that he had a supposedly consensual sexual connection with a student in 2009. Additionally, a computer's webcam once captured them having sex.

It gave him the 'idea' to film women being raped and use that information as a kind of extortion, he said.

The Hathras police superintendent, Chiranjeev Nath Sinha, claims that Kumar then set up specialised software on his computer to record his rapes.
