There has been an uproar in Amravati, Maharashtra over the objectionable remarks of Hindu saint Yati Narsinghanand against Prophet Mohammad. The mob pelted stones at the police demanding registration of a case against Yati, in which 21 policemen were injured, reports news agency PTI.

According to the Police, a a case was registered against Ghaziabad's Hindu saint Yati Narsinghanand Maharaj for his remarks against the Prophet. He said that at least 10 police vans were damaged in the stone pelting incident outside Nagpuri Gate police station in Amravati city on Friday night.

An official said that a case has been registered against 1200 people in this regard and the police have identified 26 of them.

Amravati Police Commissioner Naveen Chandra Reddy said that a large crowd, including members of some organizations, came to Nagpuri Gate police station at around 8.15 pm demanding registration of a case against Ghaziabad's Yti Narsinghanand Maharaj.

Meanwhile, the authorities in Ghaziabad has imposed restrictions under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on Saturday, prohibiting unauthorised gatherings and protests. The restrictions were implemented in response to demonstrations from the Muslim community sparked by Yati Narsinghanand Giri’s hate speech against Prophet Muhammad. 

Dinesh Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner, confirmed that cases are being registered against organisers of Friday’s protests and no protests will be allowed on Saturday. He stated that the protests, including a large gathering near Dasna Devi temple late Friday night, were unauthorised and violators would face legal consequences. 

Further tensions arose after a video by Anil Yadav, a supporter of Yati Narsinghanand, was released, leading to additional unrest. A case has been filed against Anil Yadav for inciting violence with his inflammatory statements. Anil Yadav warned that if a protest was held against Narsinghanand at the Collectorate, his supporters would retaliate, stating they would not tolerate the burning of their guru's effigy.
