Angarki Chaturthi 2026: Sankashti Chaturthi is a very sacred festival devoted to Lord Ganesha. It falls on the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha during every month. If it coincides with a Tuesday, it is considered very auspicious and is known as 'Angaraki Chaturthi'. 'Sankashti' means relief from the clutches of danger or distress. On this day, people worship Lord Ganesha to overcome all the obstacles and misfortunes in their lives by observing a fast. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm, especially in Maharashtra. When Sankashti Chaturthi occurs on Tuesday, it is known as 'Angaraki Chaturthi'. This day has immense importance in the Hindu calendar. It is believed that Angaraka performed severe austerities before Lord Ganesha, who was pleased with his devotion and awarded him with his blessings.

According to the beliefs, performing this vratta or pujan on this day gives the same benefit as performing all the Sankashti vratas in the year. This day is also important for eliminating Mangal Dosha present in one’s astrology charts as well as for eradicating debts. Angarki Chaturthi 2026: Rituals

To perform the Angarki Chaturthi Vrat, wake up early in the morning and after taking a bath and wear clean red clothes. Clean the worship area and set up an idol of Lord Ganesha. Apply a vermilion tilak on the idol of Lord Ganesha and offer his favourite durva grass, red flowers, incense, and a lamp. Additionally, offer modak or laddus to Ganpati Bappa. Recite 'Om Gan Ganapataye Namaha' throughout the day and read the vrat katha of the Angarki Chaturthi vrat. Keep the fast throughout the day and culminate your vrat in the evening by offering arghya to the moon.
