Bahula Chauth 2024: Bahula Chaturthi, also known as Bol Choth, is a significant Hindu festival celebrated in Gujarat and Rajasthan. It falls on the 4th day of the bright half of Bhadrapada, typically in August or September. This day honours the sacred bond between cattle and farmers, acknowledging the crucial role cows play in agricultural prosperity. Bahula Chauth 2024: Vrat Katha Of This Sacred Festival

The Bahula Chaturthi Vrat Katha narrates the tale of a poor farmer's wife who worshipped the cow goddess, Bahula Devi, to revive her ailing cow. The devoted woman observed a fast, offered prayers, and worshipped the cow, pleading for its recovery. Moved by her piety, Bahula Devi appeared and healed the cow. In gratitude, the farmer's wife vowed to observe the Bahula Chaturthi fast annually, worshipping cows and seeking prosperity.

As the legend goes, observing this fast brings prosperity, good health, and a bountiful harvest. It is said that even the gods worship cows on this day, emphasising the sacred bond between humans and animals. By honouring cows, devotees demonstrate compassion, gratitude, and respect for nature's harmony. The Bahula Chaturthi Vrat Katha encourages women to fast, worship cows, and offer prayers, seeking blessings for their families, farms, and communities. Bahula Chauth 2024: Puja Vidhi Of This Sacred Festival

Preparation

- Clean and decorate the cowshed: Ensure the cowshed is clean and decorated with flowers, leaves, and other adornments.

- Prepare offerings: Prepare offerings of hay, grains, and other items for the cows.

- Gather puja items: Gather necessary puja items, such as a bell, conch shell, and vermilion.

Puja Procedure

- Worship the cow: Begin by worshipping the cow, applying vermilion to its forehead and offering prayers.

- Offer hay and grains: Offer hay and grains to the cow, symbolising nourishment and sustenance.

- Chant mantras: Chant ancient mantras to invoke the blessings of Bahula Devi and the cow goddess.

- Ring the bell: Ring the bell to purify the atmosphere and invoke divine presence.

- Blow the conch shell: Blow the conch shell to herald the worship and seek blessings.

- Worship lord Krishna: Worshipping Lord Krishna is essential on this day as he is closely associated with the cows and is termed as "Gopal". 

- Perform aarti: Perform aarti, offering prayers and seeking blessings for prosperity and good health.

- Offer prayers: Offer heartfelt prayers, seeking forgiveness for any harm caused to cows and animals.

Vrat Observance
