Bhai Dooj 2025 is a unique Hindu festival that celebrates the bond of love and affection between a brother and sister. It is celebrated on the second day of the bright fortnight of the Kartik month. It is the last day of the five-day Diwali festival. On this day, sisters pray for the happiness and long life of their brothers. Bhai Dooj is also called 'Yamadvitiya' because Lord Yama met his sister Yamuna on this day. This festival is a day to celebrate brother-sister love in particular. This festival is known by various names, such as Bhai Beej, Bhav Beej, and Bhatri Dwitiya. Bhai Dooj symboliaes the love between brothers and sisters, where sisters pray for the long life and health of their brothers.
On Bhai Dooj, the love between brothers and sisters deepens. Brothers bring gifts for their sisters, and sisters apply tilak to their brothers and wish them a long life. This festival strengthens the bond between brothers and sisters. The celebration of Bhai Dooj is similar to Raksha Bandhan, but sisters present symbols of love to their brothers.

Bhai Dooj 2025: Rituals
On Bhai Dooj, sisters invite their brothers for a delicious meal. On this occasion, sisters prepare traditional dishes for their brothers and apply henna on their hands. During the ceremony, sisters perform aarti for their brothers and apply kumkum to their foreheads, wishing them prosperity and happiness.
This ritual of Bhai Dooj strengthens the love between brothers and sisters. Brothers honour their sisters by giving them blessings, gifts and cash. Some sisters also fast until the end of the ceremony for their brothers' long life. This festival provides an opportunity to strengthen the sibling bond even further.
