Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 City Wise Timings: The country will witness the jubilant celebrations of the most awaited festival, Ganesh Chaturthi on September 19. Ganesh Chaturthi, Vinakaya Chaturthi or Ganesh Mahotsav is a significant Indian festival that celebrates the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and is resembled by a large elephant head that symbolises understanding and wisdom and a big belly that represents generosity and acceptance.
According to Drik Panchang, the Chaturthi tithi will begin at 12:39 PM on Sep 18, 2023, and end at 01:43 PM on Sep 19, 2023. Lord Ganesh was born during Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Ganesh Puja is preferred during Madhyanha as it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahna Kala. According to Drik Panchang, worship of Lord Ganesha is preferred during Madhyanha as it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahna Kala. Madhyahna Kala is equivalent to midday according to the Hindu division of the day. The time duration between sunrise to sunset is divided into five equal parts. These five parts are known as Pratahkala, Sangava, Madhyahna, Aparahna and Sayankal. Ganapati Sthapana and Ganapati Puja on Ganesha Chaturthi are done during the Madhyahna part of the day and as per Vedic astrology it is considered the most appropriate time for Ganesha Puja.
