1. God Is Our Only Constant Friend

Guru Nanak Ji taught that God is our true friend who is always with us. Whether we are happy or sad, whether we are having a good day or a bad one, God is always with us and is the only one who never abandons us. Therefore, we should remember God at all times and in every circumstance.

2. God Is One

Baba Nanak has also shared that God is the Creator of all beings. He is present in everything. He is fearless. He has no enemies and is beyond time and birth. The god has created Himself. He can be realised only by His grace. Baba Nanak Ji has also shared that despite God having many forms and names, He is one.

3. Humanity Is The First Religion

Selfless service or sewa was central to the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He encouraged his followers to help the poor and needy and said that helping those in need is a way of worshipping God. According to Baba Nanak, true spirituality is reflected in acts of kindness.

4. Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, Vand Chakho

Guru Nanak Dev Ji has shared three main principles of Sikhism - Naam Japna (chanting God’s name), Kirat Karna (doing things with integrity) and Vand Chakhna (sharing what you have with others). These principles highlight the essence of life, and also teach one that a person must always perform their actions with modesty and serve others while making god a central part of their life.

5. Always Show Compassion And Contentment

Guru Nanak Ji said that a person’s life should be based on compassion and contentment. A human must always care for others and help them when they are in trouble or feeling sad. Guru Nanak Ji's teachings also suggest that a person should be content and satisfied with what they have and not always want more than what is on their plate.

6. Become Focused In Your Prayers

According to Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings, a person must concentrate their mind during prayer and recite prayers and mantras attentively. By becoming more focused in prayers, one can draw closer to God.
